Spectrum brass seminar
Since our inaugural Spectrum Brass Seminar in 2012, we have taught over 130 students from 50 different universities and music schools around the country and abroad.
We strive to provide the most unique collegiate chamber music experience in the country, featuring a 2:1 student-faculty ratio, a focus on brass quintet repertoire, and an opportunity to develop your musical leadership skills.
Do you love to perform chamber music at a high level? Do you want to propel your musical skills towards a professional career? Do you hunger for inside information about forming and running a brass quintet?
The Spectrum Brass Seminar will provide all of that and much, much more! From 2012 thru 2024, our Seminar was located at the Bay View Music Festival in Northern Michigan. We are currently working towards setting up our own program at another location. The Spectrum Brass Seminar provides unparalleled opportunities to learn, perform, and collaborate with fellow musicians who will become friends and colleagues for a lifetime.
This opportunity pairs the groudbreaking Spectrum Brass with an unparalleled learning experience. The program features a variety of professional and student performances throughout the summer in addition to classes, lessons, coaching, and much, much more.
The Spectrum Seminar typically occurs during the summertime between July and August. Applications will be accepted for individuals and preformed groups to attend the entire session. We usually have room for two or three brass quintets, so make a great recording of yourself or your quintet, and apply today.
The environment at the Spectrum Brass Seminar mirrors life as a professional freelance musician by offering a balance of coaching, rehearsal, practice, and free time.
